Fair Chocolate

Fair Chocolate

Walt: Understand/learn the level of writing.

Ewan is a man who makes chocolates in the factories. He works with a couple of other people who work in the farm. Chocolate is made in different kinds of factories. People get help from farmers, and so the farmers plant a plant called the ‘Cacao Tree’ (Theobroma Cacao). When it is planted, the cacao beans are fermented and dried in the sun. Then the cacao beans are being processed in a factory, and then they make the chocolate. Some companies would use second-hand objects or new objects to make they’re chocolate. Chocolate is made with; cacao, milk, sugar, and vanilla. In the cacao plant, when it is opened there is 30 - 40 seeds inside. Around 70% of the world’s cacao is grown in Africa. Cacao is also grown in Indonesia, South America and in the Dominican republic.

This is a screenshot of my studyladder results. I didn't have any problems, because every question was simple. I enjoyed doing studyladder, but I am still working on my fractions.

Battle of the Lands

Walt: Create a Maori myth (narrative).
Walt: Write an impactful introduction to our Maori myth.

I am Mana and I am 17 years of age, I live in a little village called Whakarewarewa. My father’s tribe is called, Kai Tahu. My father is the chief. My father was honoring another tribe called Toru. My father is very tall, but he is very old and weak. I saw Da-fana sneak off. Da-fana is the Chief of Toru, Da-fana is very large and strong. I then saw Da-fana dishonouring my tribe. I hit Da-fana and then he got riri (angry). He then called out to Toru saying,’ Whakaohooho tenei tamaiti ki ahau’ (this boy disturbed me). Toru ran after me, I was running as fast as I can, all of Toru was right behind me, trying to kill me. I was calling for my father, but my father was getting beaten by Da-fana. I saw the villagers screaming, ‘ Taturu I!’(help) I felt so ashamed. I got the whole of Whakarewarewa into trouble.

I gave up 4 hours later from hiding from Toru, then I was looking for my father. I found out my father passed away and I found his body, because Da-fana beat him up. I got angry. I walked up the hill and I saw my aunty, Aria. My aunty was yelling at me,’ Titiro i te mea i mea ai koe’ (look at what you have done). I turned away and I said,’ E haere ana ahau ki te hinga Toru’ (I am going to defeat Toru). My Aunty just laughed, and said,’ Go on, Mana, you won’t be able to.’ I just ignored her and ran off. I soon fell into a deep sleep in the jungle. While I was sleeping my Grandmother was talking to me, ‘ Kia pehea te e haere koe ki te hinga Toru i runga i tou ake? ( How are you going to defeat Toru on your own?) I just said,’ I never talked with the dead before.’ ‘Go find someone to help you’, Grandmother replied. I woke up, in relief, trying to think of someone, then I remembered about, Tagufa. Tagufa, is the most dangerous, strongest leader. Tagufa is bulky and he wears coat made out of bird feathers. He is left in his own land, his land is forbidden.

I walked onto Tangufa’s Land. I walked near his 6 wives: Lotu, fara, Sere, To’u, Lante, and Soco. All six of them are witches. Fara, kept tempting me to leave, or else I would die. I just ignored her and I went into Tagufa’s cave. He was resting, because he just finished a hunt. I asked Tagufa,’ taea e koe te pai te awhina i ahau?(can you please help me?). Tagufa agreed politely. Then he insisted,’ If I help you, you have to do a favor for me.’ I gave him a weird look. Then I said ok. FIVE DAYS LATER- I slept in Tagufas extra cave. He trained me every day, 17 hours. He gave me a long weapon, that was made out of a sharks tooth.

After a couple of weeks, Tagufa said  I was prepared to fight against Toru. I jumped in the air, and then I  did pukana. He said I was a true warrior. I couldn’t stop smiling. Tagufa had a hideout, where he waits for prey. We were waiting for Da-fauna and the whole of Toru. While we were waiting we were training. We finally met. Da-fauna and Toru, made a plan. We were curious, trying to figure it out, so we snuck behind Da-fauna and Toru. We heard them say they were going to go behind the waterfall, and Da-fauna and the others were going to be on the rock mountain.

Tagufa believed in me and said,’ Whakapono ana ahau i roto i a koutou tama.’ (I believe in you son). We were face to face. We were battling and Tagufa was versing Toru. I beat Da-fauna, and so did Tagufa. We won fare in square. All of Toru, was executed, and I became chief, and Tagufa became the leader. Everyone was free, and we Aria, was happier than before.

Basic Facts

Basic Facts W10 T2.PNG

This is a screenshot of my Basic Facts. It was all simple, but as you see the one I got wrong, I accidently misunderstood the number three, and thought that it was a number 2. I used a mental strategy to do the thousands. It was simple, not really challenging.

Prototec Basic Facts

aPrototec results Stage 7.PNG

This is a screenshot of my Basic Facts Stage 7. As you can see, I only got 2 wrong, because I got mixed up with the fractions and percentages. On the Squares, R and Factors, I added an extra number and forgot a number. Everything else was easy, and on division I used a mental strategy. It was quite challenging, because I  was doing stage 7, when i’m doing stage 6.
